Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia

I read the news about Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia at The Star this morning. Many more shops are planned to open all across Malaysia.

The news gave an example of a 425 gram tin of sardine that is sold only for RM2.99 where at normal shops, the price is RM6.20.

The objective of the establishment of Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia as stated in the The Star news report was to ‘designed to help bring down the prices of goods and ease the burden of the common man’ – which is a good thing.

Though the prices might be low, the Prime Minister assured that the quality would not be compromised.

This effort comes truly at the right time, when grocery prices are increased by other supermarkets. I believe Malaysians should support Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia as long as it maintains its low price.

When a lot of people shift their consuming practice to a new shop because of the relatively low prices, hopefully other shops would follow suit to stay competitive.

However, one question arise. Will Malaysians actually spend their money on items with the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia stickers on them?

ASUS U41

A friend of mine just downloaded a nice piece of engineering software. Being a nerd I’m all excited to use it. The problem however is my current laptop does not meet the requirement to run the software. The solution? Buy a new laptop!

I asked Uncle Google. I went through some websites that compare different laptops. At last, I know what I’m going to buy. The ASUS U41.

It was not long to make that decision. The decision to buy a new laptop. I am always considered to have the tendency to buy something spontaneously. A friend of mine call it impulsive buying.

It appears that I usually don’t think or plan before I buy something. Actually, that is not always the case.

I also have the tendency to think too much whether to buy something and in the end, ended up not buying anything. One example is the laptop. I’ve been thinking to buy one for quite a while and when I searched at Gmarket.com, I found a good deal.

The ASUS U41 was priced at only under RM2000 after conversion from Korean Won. That includes delivery. I thought to myself, this is one good bargain and made an order.

ASUS U41 comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, a minimum 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M graphic card, and battery life that could last up to 10 hours (with little tweak by built-in software).

The laptop is on its way. If I’m lucky, when I reach home this evening, I could collect it from the Apartment’s office. If I’m in no luck, it would arrive tomorrow!
